balck marks on white tail

i rescued 2 goldfish the other day and one of them has a white tail but around the edges it has black,it is staying near the bottom too and hasnt ate as much as the other one!any ideas

my goldfish seem to change colour on a regular basis, sometimes losing or gaining black markings. Never seems to effect their health, and some just do seem to eat more than others...social hierarchy in effect maybe?

Just keep water clean with water changes and add some salt like i said and they should be fine, how big is the tank and what filter do you use, if goldfish haven't been kept in good water quality at the lfs they will have abit of finrot, but if it's not bad and the fish are healthy they will heal, also feed the goldfish on frozen foods as goldfish are prone to swim bladder problems, good luck.

its a 44gal and i havent got a filter yet coz i rescued them not xpecting to get any and just HAD to take them and havent had toim to buy one,in the LPS they were in a tank scruffy with alge and it had about 40 glodfish of all sizes and types(orandas,commons,fantails,celestials,marble orandas,comets....)and half of them were dead and i only grabbed these two coz the pet shop lady was about to kill them as they were the only two 'cheapy'goldfish there(her words!)and the others were all fancy so i took them for £1.50 each!the tank was bad and i couldnt find a healthy one.i orignally went to get an oranda for my 15gal but i was told that she wouldnt sel me one with 2 fins because they need a 'bubble pippe'(i think she ment air pump)and my tank hasnt got one even though it has a filter!Or well i got 2 great little fishies sorry for the lonngg ramble

You will have to do plenty of water changes while you get a filter, get a brilliant filter as goldfish are big waste producers as you no, some lfs annoying when they keep fish like that, poor things, they don't look in bad health so they should pull through, good luck.
