I have 4 Bala sharks that are about 2 inches long. Ive read that bala's are a schooling fish and that is why i got 4 of them. They seemed fine for the first few days but now they are constantly chasing each other around the tank in pairs and dont really school. Is this because I dont have enough? Should i get a few more? Thanks.

no i dont think you need anymore(tank is already pretty crowded) I had four of them and they always were together. They can grow to almost a foot long. IMO

well the 3 gouramis and teh silver-tipped shark/catfish are going to my dads pretty soon so that should free up sum space. but that still doesnt explain why theyre fighting.

Are you sure that theyre fighting, my balas chase eachother a lot too. They dont hurt eachother its just kind of like playing. Unless its apparent they are geting injured or stressed i wouldnt worry too much about it.

its not just chasing. they appear to be nipping at each other but no fin damage at all.

my main concern is that they dont seem to school at all. they hang out in two's but thats about it.

the one that seems the most agressive is the one who has half of is back fin bitten off(which i dont think was another bala). He seems to be by himself a lot and chases the others away. Anything I can do to make him happier?
