Hi all, my baby bala shark was caught in a gap between 2 rock features (for probably +10 hours) now he practically can't swim. He does barrel turns like he can't control his balance. His body seems bent. Like his spine has been manipulated.

There appears to be no damage to the scales, fins or body.

Any ideas on what to do?

if you possibly can then isolate him to a hospital tank, make sure it's free from all ornaments etc so he can rest a bit.

make sure water quality is spot on, water changes if nescessary

have you just now got him out of the gap or has he been like this for a while? I'd expect a bit of spazzing as he's gonna be in shock even if no permanent damage has been done, however if it continues then he may have injured himself struggling or the stress could bring on swim bladder problems.

Thanks Miss Wiggle - I just got him out now.

He's just lying on the tank floor. Hopefully he'll get better.

yeah it sounds like behaviour i'd expect after a big trauma like this. as i said before make sure the water is clean and isolate him if possible. then just give him a little while to recover. if he's still like this in a couple of hours then you can start thinking of damage he has done an what to do. medicating when there's nothing wrong with him can do more harm than good so I'd be patient and give him a little time to see if he recovers.

well poor lil guy didnt make it.

i need to get rid of some of these ornaments :[

Sorry R.I.P.
There a chance he could of damaged his swim bladder, sorry.
