Something seems to be attacking One of my balas, His fins are all shreded. I have seen one of the other balas nipping at him.

There are only balas, clown loaches and 1 baby koi angel in the tank. Should i take him out?

Not sure what to do. No signs of disease and water is ok. all other fish are fine

:good:

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
Water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Just wanted to check as mainly it's down to the tank being to small.
If his fins are stredded and they are attacking him yes he needs issolating.
How many bala's do you have as they do beter in bigger groups.

Got 4 large and 2 babys, I am upgrading tank soon. do you think its the other bala's or finrot? Lol never had finrot so dont know what to expect. Its all his fins, tail, dorsal, anal.

Have you seen them pecking at his fins.

Finrot signs are
White edging to the tail, or red.
Red streaks in the tail.
Holes in the tail.
Get you some info it will be quicker.
Though its for betta but its the same for most fish.

None of our balas nip each other although when they were smaller (they are around 8-10" now), they tended to "play" after feeding by chasing each other around and nudging each other but there were no signs of aggression. They seemed to have grown out of this to some extent but still do so occasionally

The chances are it is some kind of finrot but I would keep and eye on them just to make sure it is not one of the other fish nipping. The ones we have are useless and are always knocking themselves against things so continually have ripped and knocked fins, tails, heads etc.
