Bala jumps out again..

Last week I posted about how I had a fish jump out and die. Well I left the room for 25 minutes and I come back to find another fish jumped out. Well now I'm down to one. I know they jumped out hard enough to raise the lid now.. God this sucks. I tried to revive him..put him back in the water he showed no movemnt and eventually sunk to the bottom. I cant believe this. I loved those fish..had them for over year. I dont know what it is, why theyre getting crazy like this. I put some weights on the top so other one has no chance. Now I'm not sure if I should get more balas or get another type of fish...i know they would have eventually outgrown my tank but the other bala needs company I dont know what to do. I was even going to get another bala today to make 3 again but they didnt have any decent looking ones.

anybody have any advice as to what fish I should add back? its a 29 gallon tank

I think theyre just tankbusters..the heaters unplugged and I think the params are fine just did a change..what fish should I get it..I know balas are best in 3s but i dont want to get rid of him ive had him so long and i know i guess i shouldnt get any more balas

sorry I dont have any advice, but I have 2 balas who like to launch themselves accross the room whenever the lid is off the tank, I can hear splashing noises at night as they flip around out of the water but I didnt reaslise they could knock the little plastic opening off and get out!

I'll put some weights on mine in future. Sorry for you losing your fish, but thanks for bringing this problem up!

Well, maybe they're protesting for a bigger tank, and what thing better to do than have an excuse to buy them a bigger new home ?

I love monsers too. Hee, hee, hee!!!

I want most puffers (duh!) and I love oscars too. At the moment am having to make do GSPs. I have 2. Wow.

Have some suggestions though, ahem...3 clown loaches, mollies, some kind of pleco, depends if you want community, cause these are all mainly community, you might also be able to get an angel.

Really sorry to hear about your bala 2 of my brothers fish did the same thing best thing you can do is weight the lid down. It's almost as if they have a suicide pact(!)

A suggestion for otherfish might be Danios/swordtails/golden barbs your best bet is to go to ur preferred aquatic store and ask.

I would not recommend any more balas, they tend to be able to get out of tank with enough speed. They get too large and should not be sold in stores. Make your a tank a nicely planted tropical with colorful fish or different type of gouramis, they are beautiful fish. You have alot of choices, just make sure you have enough rooom for the fish you pick out and you don't need to upgrade, unless you don't mind doing this when necessary. Some people only want one tank and that is it. For me I am going to be getting my third larger tank soon, can't wait.

Its not that they get to bi its sum people dont have a big enough tank for them, they olny get like 10 or 12 inches
