I have just tested my water and its bad. Can anyone help me with what ever advice i can get. I have only lost 1 angel fish dont want to lose any more thanks.

pH 7.0
Ammonia 4.0
Nitrite NO2 2.0ppm
Nitrate NO3 20ppm

Test your tap water for ammonia and nitrite, if both are lower than tank water, do 90% water change with warm, dechlorinated water. You may want to use a dechlorinator which will neutralise ammonia.

ok im doing a 40 percent water change

tests on the new water im adding in
ph 7.4
amonia 0.25
nitrite 0
nitrate 0

water going in is exactly same temprature

Do larger, you need to get that ammonia down to 0.25 ppm. Ammonia over 0.25 ppm is harmful to fish in the long term, so your aim right now is to get it as low as possible.

Thereafter, you will be in a fish-in cycle situation and will be doing large water changes every day. Reduce feeding to once every other day and add plants if you don't have any.

Right I have done the 90 percent. Whats the chance of losing fish?

Very low if you keep on top of your water changes. As KittyKat mentioned, keeping it BELOW 0.25% is the priority at the moment.

When i first had my 30L tank, i found myself in a 'Fish-In' cycle... every day i had to do 50-75% water changes, even after doing this for over 7 days i still lost all my fish.

Regards,
Terry.

PS- try and get hold of some Seachem Prime (about £17 on Ebay)..use this when refilling after your water changes.
