Bad Problem With My Tank. Help

Hi did you do a water change between using 2 different meds if not this could be the problem also when using meds most of them say to run an airstone as it can cause oxygen problems

Sorry I couldn't help you figure out the cause of it. From the sounds of everything, there is no obvious cause of the problem. Glad the fish seem to be doing better in their temporary home.

Hopefully you get your tank restored to its former glory, it looked great in the pictures.

Two other possiblities I just thought of - first has the temperature been constant in the tank (and what is the temperature)? And secondly, did you or your girl friend reach in the tank to adjust anything and possibly have lotion or soap still on your hands?

kjb, I did 2 water changes, but it did cross my mind that it could be two different meds.

tttnjfttt, the temp has did a constant 24c. As for my girlfriend, she only touches my tank when asked, she has her own to play with. LOL
I'm now recovering from a tank strip down, over 8 hours of it. The fish are back in and every thing is OK(fingers crossed). I'm expecting a mini cycle after using new water, even with using two buckets of old water from my girlfriends tank. Thankfully the tank is looking good as new, or should that be good as old. Anyway, it gave me a chance to change the substrate to gravel with laterite, and install a new background.
As for the cause, it possibly was my fault some where along the line. I still don't know why though.
Thanks again for your advice, I great having a friendly "voice" to help!

Good luck!

Actually you shouldn't have a mini-cycle if you kept your filter media wet, as the bacteria live in the substrate and in the filter media, not the water. If i'm not mistaken, didn't you run your filter in the holding bucket last night?

Yes I did, but I toke the opportunity to change the substrate. I hope I don't, but if I expect one then I can be prepared.
