so this morning i walked past my 12 gallon sorority and heard the filter straining, and yet again it wasn't sucking up water....... so i looked in on my fish and noticed that all 3 females i raised from fry died, along with one of my pet sore girls, a green marble hm i got from aquabid, and the lavender hmpk i got from jaded. so i took out the few that survived and put them in my other 15 gallon community with my other 4 females. they are all looking fine now, but that upset me.... i ended up taking 3 of my guppies into my lps with 23 balloon mollie fry that my moms friend gave me to trade in, and looked in thier tank they keep thier females in and saw 2 vt males that were all chewed up, and at least 2 pk males with the females. so i told the guy who works their, and picked up the 2 pk males one of which is actually a green dtpk who has perfect lobes. the other one is white with a platinum/blue wash, and red butterflying on his tail, dorsal fin, and on his vents. i'll see where my bf is keeping the batteries and get pics later tonight if i can.

my sister also picked her first 2 females today that are both ct that she wants to start her first sorority with..... iv got her addicted :yahoo:

You lost 4 fish in one day? Did you figure out what happened? I'm sorry for your loss.

it started with one for last christmas then she started coming with me to my favorite lfs and now she is hooked..... as for figuring out what it was no i have no clue. they were all fine one day then the next they were all dead. all i know is that the power cut out and my filter never properly restarted.

They should be fine without a filter, though..... how long were they without? The only thing I can think of is that maybe your heater quirked when the power came back on. I had that happen with my favorite halfmoon male. I had no idea his temperature was now up into the 90's until it was too late. We'd had a short outage, but long enough that the heater malfunctioned when the power came back on.

it was only off for afew hours. for that tank i don't use a heater because its in a warm area that keeps it in the high 70s.

I heard you shouldn't keep your filter off for more than 2 hours, or else the bacteria start dying off. You might have had an ammonia spike :dunno:

i don't know what it was that killed them i just know that it did. the tank is getting bleached, and i'm hoping to get a new filter for the tank before i set it back up.
