A few months ago my kribs had babies. I fed them but basically left it to nature and we have 4 of them left.
Well last week I noticed mummy krib had disappeared into her cave and a couple days later we had babies. Everything was fine till today. Daddy krib has been beating mummy krib up and wont let her near the babies.
I have taken him out the tank just now and will add him back in an hour or so if he keeps beating her up I will have to put a tank seperator in.
So I hope by taking daddy krib out I have gave him the fright he needs.
The bad thing is I can't see any of the tiny babies now, mummy krib is swimming about the tank looking for them.
Wish me luck in getting this pair back together and finding the babies.

Yeah, they'll do that, though I'm not sure how or why. Both parents should be raising the fry but I've seen the males turn on the females.. and vice versa. Maybe it depends whether one deems the other to be too weak, or something?

Either parent can raise the fry so if you still have young I would just leave them with the mother. If the fry haven't survived, wait until the female has fully recovered before you re-introduce the male.

I only have one tank so had to re introduce him to the tank shes hiding in the plant pot found three tiny babies trying to follow him and hes chasing anything that comes near.
Im heading to bed but got hubby keeping a close eye on them.

She probably won't come out with him around :/ In my experience she'll now struggle to compete for food and generally won't be seen at all for months, until she passes away.

I would suggest purchasing a breeding trap or something until she's fully healthy or you can temporarily rehome one of the pair. You could possibly purchase a small tank - an 18*12*12 with sponge filter and air pump wouldn't set you back much - and temporarily rehome one of the parents until the fry are removed from the tank.

I put him back in but she lost her colour and started to hide again so I made a divider for the tank and seperated them both. will keep them like that for a couple of weeks or so.
He been going round his half of the tank finding any babies and taking them in his mouth to the plant pot but what he doesnt realise is the neons are watching and go in the top part when he leaves.
Anyway I leave the babies to nature if they make it they do if not there is still the next time if daddy ever starts to be nice to mummy again.

Ahh divider - good thinking batman :)

Let us know how they get on. Good luck!

i had this exact same prob and my male keppt on harrasing the female long after the fy had died / been eaten, i took the male of for 2 weeks put him back, the female gave hm grief for 2hrs then again he had her pinned in a corner not allowing her to move and butting her if she did, i then moved him to the qt and then her into another tank, due to mully fru i had to move him into a 60l to make room for the 60ish fry, the female then was not getting on well in her new home so i took a chance and put her in with the male again (after a month apart) 2 weeks later i have lots of krib fry and as yet they get on well and no sign of his abusive past ! hope it stays this way as i only have 1 more spare 60l butis taller then floor space.
