Hi. I'm currently treating my fish for a bacterial infection, with Interpet'sNumber 9 until such time as my Maracyn 2 arrives. Symptoms seem to have been 'put on hold' this past week and haven't progressed. All are eating well but show loss of colour, and previously a few have had haemorragic septicemia (reddening to base of fins) which seems to have gone.

Anyhow, thinking further down the line, will I have to completely strip down my tank and start again due to bacteria present, or will the Maracyn 2 antibiotic destroy the bacteria responsible. The last thing I want to do is treat the symptoms but not the case. The tank is 160 gallons and took ages to fishlessly cycle. Don't know if I could face 'starting from scratch'!

Opinions appreciated.

If its a bacterial thing you won't need to strip the tank down, the meds should deal with the bacteria properly if dosed correctly on the fish and so forth :) .
