Hi everyone,
I just came back from honeymoon (was away a while and missed a water change) to find that two of my serpae tetras had cotton wool fungus and fin rot so I used an anti fungal med on Saturday as per instructions.
Today my tank is a white cloudy mess and the serpae tetras are dead. Not sure what to do now - do I leave the bacteria bloom to right itself and do say a 25% water change? Is more drastic action needed?

ps tank = 45G been cycled for over 6 month with no big problems so far except a bit of white spot a while ago.

will post stats in a min.

Thanks.

If they had columnaris you need a bacteria med as well as the fungus med in the uk, if they died in the tank i would do a water change to remove the med and run some black carbon.

Thanks for your reply Wilder, Is there much point in using the bacterial meds now that the infected fish are dead? The other fish seem fine. I looked up some pics of columnaris and it looks like that is what it was.

Just do some daily water changes, and observe the fish closely, good luck.
