Hi People,

Can anyone help me out I am new to tropical fish and have had my tank up and running for 4 weeks, after week one I introduced 6 zebra danios, I then found out they had white spot and treated with methylene blue. White spot has gone and I have now started doing regular water changes approx 15 percent everyday due to high levels of ammonia and nitrite.

Ammonia 1.0
Nitrite 0.50
Nitrate 10
Ph 7.2
Hardness 10

My fish seemed to get slightly upset after two weeks of the medication this is when I decided to start doing the regular water changes. The tank has been cycling for three weeks since the medication and levels above have been like this for approx two weeks with water tests carried out every other day. Is there a way of giving my bacteria a boost to try and combat these levels, it just seems to be taking an age to get any change.

Any advice or reccomended products to help would be fantastic, Thanks for taking the time to read this.

i would recomend adding some aquarium salt to yoru tank (1 tablespoon per every 5 gal). Also, increase the temperature in your tank, it will speed up the life cycle of the ich. Go 1*C every day until you get to 29*c. If the fish are getting stressed out, i would recomend using copper safe, they may have an easier time with that med. Adding an airstone will also help.

Until your ammonia and nitrite are both zero, you will need to keep up with the daily water changes.

:) I had good succes with Bio-Spria when I trashed my bio-filter after using Melichite Green for a ick problem that I once had. Had bad spikes of both Ammonia and Nitrites. It took about a week for this product to work.

Regular water changes with dechlorinator are the best and safest method of removing/lowering the nitrite and ammonia in your tank water, although try not to take out more than 60% of water per day- basically just do a small water change with dechlorinator though whenever you see ammonia or nitrites  .

Hi People,

Many Thanks,

ihmix. Keep up the great work.
