Ok to start it off water params

ammonia=0
nitrite=.25
nitrate=0
Ph=7.2
Gkh,Kh=unknown

tank..29 gallon,30Wx12dx18tall

fish
neon tetra=10
bloodfin tetra=4
scissortail rasbora=4
corydoras cats=6..2 peppered,4 panda(peppered are a spawning pair)
common plec=1..didnt know a tank buster when i got him he will be rehomed soon..rookie mistake!!(he's abut 4 inches long without tail)

problem is this...
I was doin a routine water change a vac noticed my filter was runnin a bit funny (btw its a penguin 200) had a few diatoms in it and overnight it caused the bio wheel to stop rotating.When i got up the next morning my tank looked horrible,like a slight haze went off.Now according to what I've read here and elsewhere it sounds like a bacteria bloom.Does this sound right or am I missing something here.Did a 30% water change and am doin 10% changes every other day to let it settle out to get more accurate results on water test.Oh lighting is a 25 watt 5500K bulb single 2 footer.As a side note a cloudy tank is a maddening sight!!It has been 4 days like this and I thought maybe someone had a better idea than the course of action I have been taking or if I'm on the right road at all??Any suggestions would be most helpful at this point as I really like this forum here.It has been a wealth of knowledge to me.... :good:

Oh i almost forgot tank has been running for about 7 months and it was fully cycled old parameters were triple o's

if your seeing ANY nitrite at all in a tank that old, it probally is doing a mini cycle. The good news is that the doubling speed of established filter bacteria is very quick and it SHOULD sort itself out rather quickly, just keep up doing water changes until the parameters are all sorted out.

Good luck! :nod:

SO that tells me I'm on the right track..thanks for the info..will continue with the w/c's and see what happens.have noticed a bit of "flashing"but not to any excess.one bloodfin and one cory not diggin the re-cycle at all

Sorry that particular water test was after a 35% water change that i logged...but thank you
My particular problem is clearing up slowly but it is working.10% w/c every other day working just fine
and thanks for the feedback :good:

I would like to thank everyone for all the advice not just my thread but all others I have searched..
Someone here once said "Anything good never happens fast" whoever it was you were absolutely right
I am now a firm believer in that statement :shifty: patience is exactly what one needs in this hobby....as frustrating as it might be sometimes
