Is it possible tio stick the back ground on to the inside of the tank using vaserline or can you only use this on the outside? if not how could i stick my background inside the tank as i think it looks bettwer inside the tank opposde to outside!
thanks
bex

Outside only. Trying to put it on the inside won't work. The background will eventually deteriorate.

Don't stick the background on the inside with vasaline. It is a petrochemical lubricant and I don't think it is safe to eat so its probably not safe for fish. I would use aquarium safe silicon.

It can't be that toxic. Our vet told is to feed it to our brown Burmese cat, which had terrible constipation (malformed colon or something). Geez, when that cat went to its litter box, the poop was so solid, and expelled with such force, it would hit the plastic box like hailstones on a window. Very strange. Anyway, the vaseline supposedly is indigestible, but lubricates the insides, helping things move along.

That said, no, I wouldn't use it in an aquarium. Whatever you use in an aquarium, unless you know better, should always be marketed specifically for use with fish.

Cheers,

Neale

You can stick your backgrounds to the inside of your tank using something called backing stickers there designed for that purpose only they are very thin stickers that hold it to the inside of you tank all my tanks backgrounds are on the inside.

The sticky double sided type tape ?
Not a good idea.

The only thing I'd use would be aquatic safe silicone. And even then you'd have to ensure it's 100% sealed. or fish & debris can get trapped behind the background - and cause a disaster.

Personally backgrounds on the outside only - or paint it a plain colour (on the outside).

Now you see, a link could have helped prevent misunderstanding in the first place. I thought you meant just normal double sided backing stickers - in general specifically designed to keep that kind of thing in place on the outside ;)
To me it wasn't very clear :)

Good to know :good: but I still wouldn't use it on the inside. For my reasons mentioned - oh and the joys of damaging your background as you algae srape it.

I have had no problem with any of my backings on the inside and i scrape algea off there regularly as long as you get a backing thats got like a laminate coating you will be fine.
