Never seen or heard of that idea before but the more i think about it, would look kind of cool.
Is it something you could easily remove if it wasn't to your taste?

Dont know skins,
but thought it might be a good idea,
and comes in some nice blues and of course black,
wondering what the effect would look like.

Some tinting film requires a heatgun/hairdryer to secure to the glass. Not a good idea near tank seams!

Others need just a special liqiud and squeegie to apply to the glass but i believe it is hard to do properly and get all the air bubbles out - might be easier with a tank without a rim around the top.
Also, the film kinks very easily.

Might be good for tank sides to reduce light light.

See what other folk say.

Just dont pinstripe your tank and add cheap alloy wheels!

I like the sound of the black but then you need to know if it can be easily removed if required.

Keith.

Just read Barry's post, that is a concern. There is a company who manufactures a like glue which is used on the backgrounds you get in the pet shops.

I have seen them peel off easily but cant say which type. Its hard trying to find a bit to lift if its been applied well.

To remove it you just have to pull it, and some blade to scrape the glue it lift on the glass, it sound harder than it actually is.

To apply it you'll need:

- Plastic putty spreader (or a credit card) with some paper on top to avoid damaging the paper.
- Blade to cut the paper
- Soapy water
- In case you didn't do the job well, a heat gun

1. Clean the tank face where you'll apply it
2. Spray soapy water a place the tint over the tank without removing the protective film, to cut a piece of the tint the same size of the back of the tank, leave 1/8" bigger in the upper a bottom part to go between tank ring and glass, remove the piece you cut.
3. Spray soapy water to glass
4. take the protective film from the tint and place it the way you did before (soapy water will allow you to move it around)
4. When placed use the spreader to take the water out, start from the center like if you're cutting the tint in the middle and the go for the upper and lower part. Make sure you take all the bubble out.
6. If the where some bubbles you use the heat gun to soft the tint and take it out, or you can use needle to punch the bubble and take the air out.

To remove it, you just have to peel the paper, and using some blade scrape the glue it left, always use soapy water cause it makes works really easy.

Hope this help.
