Hi all,

I'm considering painting the back of my tank black. Is poster paint ok or is there a better alternative?

Is it a good idea to paint the sides as well or is it better to leave them bare?

Del

thats my plan too,

I`m going to cut some board to size and "strap" it to the back and the side of the tank nearest the wall plus then if i move the tank its quickly and easily altered....

I`ll post pics up this weekend when its done..

Once it's black, it's staying black. I haven't the patience to be scraping paint off!

trust me, you don't. I just bought a 90 gal, with blue background paint. TOOK 6 HOURS WITH A RAZORBLADE TO SCRAPE IT ALL OFF! just be sure you really like whatever you want on the back of the tank... 'cause scraping is a pain!

why not spray paint a board first to see if you like it. then if you like it so much that you never want to change it, paint the actual glass. im not sure what kind of paint is the best because ive never done it, but i would just use spraypaint because i wouldnt want to use my spraygun just for a little project(too lazy to clean it).

I've painted the back of my tank on 3 seperate occasions with 3 different colors and yes scraping paint is a hassle......but in my opinion its the best look you can achieve.
