I used to use this forum quite a lot but stopped so much when I stepped into the Reef world. I have recently shut down my reef tank due to time and work commitments. I have decided to go back to FW and hope to be on here a bit more often going forward.

The tank is a sumped 24x18x18 rimless ND aquatics tank with a right hand side weir running the twin stand pipe method. I am going for a simple low maintenance setup, hence the platic plants. This is not something I would have usually considered but due to time issue it is the way I have gone. Suprisingly it looks okay, plastic plants were awful when I first started!!

Here are some pics:

I am still thinking about what stocking to have. Currently I am thinking a group of herlequin raboras and a group of corydoras but I am open to suggestions. The system is 160l with the sump which would/could allow me to stock a little more aslong as the fish are happy/comfortable.

Any input/suggestions welcome.

Cheers

it looks good but why not use some live plants? like crypts or anubias. it looks great though, and i dont normally say that about plastic

Thanks. I can understand why you would say that and I would normally agree but i really wanted as low maintenance as possible. It seems silly but i literally have very little time and did not want to give up the hobby completely.

Maybe one day ill throw some live ones in there with them but i am happy with how it looks for now. Blowing my own trumpet but i am happily surprised with how it looks considering they are fake plants. Any input for stocking ideas?

Cheers

personally i love tetra and otocinculs as well as shrimp :good: but its down to you

Thanks for the input. I like tetra, some cardinals were also an option. Ill probably not go down shrimp route, had them before and i wasn't much of a fan.

Otos, I like but I had some before and they didn't last. I had read they can be very sensitive. Has anyone got any input to that?

Thanks

Just a little update on the tank, the system currently has 7 harlequin rasboras with the intention of adding more to the group soon. There is also a crowntail betta splenden, have always kept them and I couldnt resist the temptation with this tank too.

I did have to stop running the sump for a week last week as one of my bulkheads decided to spring a leak but I have dealt with his now.
