I just purchased baby tears which are tied down on a piece of rock. I would like to know if it can really turn out to fully grow on the rock and would appreciate any advice for anyone who has done this before

it can be, but it dose do better planted, or if you like the look of it covering a rock, just add some substrate on top so i still grows like normal.

I would add a 'mud' layer to the top of the rock, but I haven't been successful with tears on rocks. Cobans can be hard headed, as I am married to one. That said, this plant, when on the rock, is very susceptible to being 'picked off' by fish that might not even be signficant herbivours, at least in what I have noticed. It's the small size that is the problem, so you are much better off growing it in the substrate.

thanks for the advice guys. Only 2 days have passed and i see change already. Also a lot of new ones sprouting. I may put it on my substrate later since i know with the roots it can be successful with spreading out in the tank.
