I have had a snail for about 2 months now, and about 3 weeks ago i found eggs on the inside of the hood, i left them alone to see if they would grow, but they didnt.
Does this mesn that the snail is infertile, do they need to be fertalised, or can they lad duds?
They can lay duds, a lone female will lay unfertilised eggs now and again. A female can also store sperm for up to six months and lay fertilised eggs. If they were in the hood and out of the water its probable you have an apple snail pomacea sp. Have a look at http/www.applesnail.net for LOTS more info.
[EDIT: If they have been there for three weeks, leave them, its possible for them to hatch 2-6 weeks after laying, depending on heat and humidity]
