Well I tried it but as soon as I put her in Charlie immediately started chasing her, so i quickly took her out. I have no idea why he did that, as she is (as far as I can tell) much too big for him to eat. Her length is about from the tip of his mouth the the edge of his operculum. (Almost 1" long)
Most male betta's are terratorial, aggressive species, so with any new arrival of fish, they are bound to be 'checked out'. Measure your decision on the health of the platy, in terms that it will not be eaten, and also sustain no extensive abuse from the betta.
I should imagine the platy is too big to be eaten, but may still be nipped.

I keep a platy male and a female swordy in with a betta in a 6gal tank.....the betta chases the other 2 all day....I think they like it tho.....they were aggro fish to begin with do probably enjoy it....they certainly aren't stressed by it/
