Hi everyone, firstly i'd just like to say this is my first post as just joined and im hoping you can all help me

I realised this morning one of my platy's has had 2 babies. This evening i can only see one so am guessing the other has been eaten possibly? But what i'd like to know is there any way i can seperate the other one within the tank while it gets stronger as i don't want to lose that either, i don't have a seperate tank to put it in so help would be appreciated

you could use a breeding trap, which sits inside the main tank, that will separate the fish from others, you can get plastic ones or net ones-i think the net ones are best personally

Thank you... i shall get one tomorrow, hopefully my local store will sell them so i don't have to order off the net and wait ages.... and fingers crossed the litle one survives overnight

oooo just another thought.... i have just bought today a new heater and air pump as im getting a new tank later this week.... if i set these up in a small plastic tank i use for changing water with some water from my main tank is worth trying to catch the baby fish and keep it in the plastic tank overnight?

You could try catching the bigger fish, if the baby is too hard to catch, I had the same problem but I also had more babies.

hmm.
i think you should seperate them overnight.
you never know. the other fish might get a bit hungry and think the fry are fish.
xo
