just a question if anyone can help me with....i have 2 platties wich are very small and i have just seen a photo of some platties online and they look so similar except they were SO chunky, and larger than mine. They were really nice fish. Can i expect mine to grow that size or are they a certain type of platty (for example you can get different types of mollies and gouramis, so just wondering if that goes with platties?
One of my platties has three dots in its tail...like a mickey mouse head on its side ha.

The females tend to get pretty chunky when they're pregnant. Yours are probably just young'uns right now. They'll get bigger :)

thats good to know that they'll get bigger :)
i noticed on your signature you have 7 guppies...how do u find keeping them - have you had them long?
i'd love some guppies but worried they wont last long - and then die and harm the water

I've got all male guppies, and was told to get a group of at least 6 to avoid any aggression issues. I wanted all males because the males are prettier and I didnt want hundreds of guppy babies, plus I was able to get all different colours.I've had a few torn fins here and there and the odd little bit of chasing, but all in all they get along really well :)

As for them harming the water, as long as you get any dead ones out reasonably soon after the death (ideally within a few hours - I've woken up to dead fish before and there's been no harm to my water parameters), they shouldn't do any damage to your water.

It is called a mickey mouse platy that's why it's got those three dots like a mickey mouse head. It's a certain species of platys. I've got one myself. They're real cute. :good:

yeh they're lovely - mine one is light orange with a darker oranged tail - recently seen blue ones - and they're even nicer :)

I used to have one that color. Mine atm is a vibrant silvery blue with a black mm head. She's a beauty. :hyper: :good:

noticed on your signature u have ghost shrimp - i used to have one of them - and to this day its aways been my favourite to watch - like they hover across the water - quite comical - but after a week of having it, it started grabbing some of my fish and eating them alive! i then went back to my local store where i got the ghost shrimp from and they said i must just have got an evil one coz normally they keep them selves to themselves ! in the end we returned it to the shop for the sake of the remaining fish - missed him tho :(

Don't have them yet. I don't think I'll have a problem because Mr. Betta may eat him anyways. :( I wanna try anyway though. :good:
