I have just returned from a weekend away and she was sitting at the bottom, hardly moving. Her scales sticking out and there was some small bright red spots in her head? Even the neons were having a bit of a go at her. Must be dropsy

I have had to her her down. She was too sick.

I also lost a molly last week that got caught in a plastic plant...This is one time where I wish I didnt have fish.

Anyway I am doing a 40% water change and treating the tank with a anti fungal treatment...Hopefully things pick up a bit now...

If her scales are sticking out she most likely has dropsy, which could either be due to the size of her during her pregnancy or a bacterial/stress related condition, its difficult to say when she'll give birth because she has dropsy but i would expect within the next week or so either way, have you ever tested your water quality for ammonia, nitrates and nitrites?

i think it is most likely that your fish has dropsy. The main signs of dropsy are a bloated stomach and sticking out scales. To be honest i cannot see much of a gravid spot (might just be the picture) which indicates that the fish isnt pregnant or is in the early stages of pregnancy, however i am sure your fish has dropsy. I recommend that you treat it imediately because once it gets too bad it really is too late!!!

I just had to comment that is one of the coolest mollies I've ever seen!

Sorry to hear you had to put her down. :( She was great looking. But I'm sure it's better for her.

:rip: little girl.
