Baby java fern

I think I have a baby java Fern growing on the end of the java fern leaf! . I'm not sure. How long can I leave it growing there? I would like to grow another java Fern from it. Thanks

You want to leave it there until there are four or five leaves that are a couple of inches long, then you can just cut the leaf off the main plant.
