Hi i have a preggers guppy and we have found 2 babies so far n have put her in a breeding trap as she looks like she still has a few left in her. How long can they keep popping the babies out 4 or have they been munched?

Hi
My baby guppies appeared like magic. Didn't see them born and there's about 7 I've seen. Have got 4 female guppies and despite seeing the babies they all still look pregnant. As far as I kenow they give birth every 3-4 weeks and pop them out within a few hours. Could be some have been eaten or maybe they're just hiding. Good luck.

First - lose the breeding trap. It stresses the female out, for starters, and female Guppies die far too easily after birth as it is. It is better to let your females give birth in the main tank, in my opinion. Lots of bunched, fine-leaved plants, in graduating heights to the surface - plastic Cabomba is perfect, but any will do as long as they provide dense cover. Java Moss is wonderful stuff, that and/or other floating plants will also save the fry. You can make your own fry-savers, such as a rolled out plastic pot scrubber with something in both ends to keep the tube open. The mesh is large enough for fry to get into, but not adults.

This method also allows Nature to do your culling for you, as the weak fry will be eaten and you'll end up with stronger fish.

Contrats!

Also, moving the fish while they are giving birth may cause miscarriages and stress, resulting in fatalities and eating of the fry.

I hope you find more babies. :D
