I didn't think my pregnant fish was ready to give birth yet, as she wasn't that big yet, and planned on getting a breeding net for them tomorrow on my day off. But Guppy had other ideas and had them today. If i take them out now and put them in another tank, will they be ok without heat until tomorrow? or should I just cross my fingers and wait till tomorrow for my shopping trip to town to get them a net?
many thanks

No get them out ASAP as theyll get eaten! While im at school mine sadly have them while im not in and i only get left with 7! So i could have around 20 but just get 7 :sigh: SO yeah i dunno about not having a heater though. You could put them in a fish bag that you get from the LFS that you bring fish home in,and just have them in there floating, still getting heat and not getting eaten! Its oay if its only te,poary i imagine so! Breeding nets are good! But i had a bad day with attaching mine, actually squashing one of my girls :-( So i discovered that you bend the metal bars over the glass after alot of thought into how it stays in the tank without moving... lol

if u can get an empty butter tub or something similar half fill it with tank water and it will float on the surface of the water.

place the baby guppies in that and their be fine for a day or two.

Thanks very much for the help. I will get a plastic dish of some kind and float it till tomorrow then.

dont worry, i was a little confused about the metal bars too, didnt help that i made the net upside down so the metal clips had to be folded twice instead of once over the glass, in the end i broke them off by accident, so now the net is attached but plant weights (lead strips) folded over the net and glass side,...lol (didnt find it funny at the time though)
any container that will float should be fine, the heat will travel though the container, and compleate water changes on the containers, using tank water to refill, if the container wont float, tape it the the glass side, making sure the tape doesnt go into the containers water (have it about the water line)

I bought five females yesterday and within 4 hours one had babies, she didn't look pregnant at all, I was surprised. There are about 15-18 survivors.

Hi! I also have guppies and ave raised little guppy fry...I believe its best netting until they are at least 1.5 - 2cms...you will notice the colours coming through at this stage its generally about 2 - 3 months old...most males are small so perhaps longer unless you have plenty of plant coverage and hidey holes...etc..

Heres a current pic of my tank....still 4 weeks old and under construction of plants still...also trying to shade light alot more...hmmmm Will update on Common Liverbearers....soon..
