the pair are in a hexagonal tank 20 gallon they are usually in a four foot tank but they are happy in this tank an ideal breeding tank

Aww, loverly :hyper:

Got body shape at 4 weeks and looking like discus. You are doing well :good: How many trys have the parents had to get this far? The adults are very nice fish too, might I add

All the best

they had been trying for ages laying every week since xmas so we got another tank and put them in we have been feeding them prima crushed with zm discus liqufry and they seem to be ok on that we did ask at atlantis aquatics about bbs and they said seeing they we such a small batch it wasnt worth doing our other pair are laying as we speak

they are really sweet. 20G, so that means it ok to keep them in a 30USg tank? Because I currently have a breeding tank set up for some krib and will soon like to change which fish i breed and gradually progess.

A breeding pair are ok in 20g plus, so long as it is 18 inches high minimum. Unless you buy a proven pair you will need a minimum of 50g. Two discus that aren't a proven pair will fight, usualy to the death in a 20g, unless us keepers interveen :good: Untill a priven pair form and try to breed in the main tank, you will need a group of five to spread agression amongst the group. Once pairs form, you can get rid of the excess fish, and move your pair into the 30g for breeding. Alterantively get a 70g, and get a group of 7. After you get a pair, they can be kept in the 30g to breed with your 5 others staying on in the 70g.

Any more news on your youngun's squiggle?

All the best

hi rabbut
they were in a hex tank thats 16 inches across and 20 inches deep ,we estimated that it is 20 gallons ,they are fine now after the panic of mum laying the eggs so we took mum and dad out,put them back into our four footer and they were promptly beaten up by are other pair, meanwhile we had taken out the internal filter throughly cleaned it and tested the water every thing was fine ,then we noticed mum and dad had been beaten up ,so we had to put them back in the hex tank, the babys have been moved into our 2 ft tank with some cardinals and they seem very happy, the filter in the hex is a hung huey its only been in there three weeks the nitrate and ammonia were a bit high yesterday but are better today so we hoping thats gonna be ok i will take some more pics soon we have 10 left now we lost some over last week or so but was expecting that
