They finally hatched. It is a black convict, pink convict pair and there is more than the last few batches. I think the parents should go this time because they tend to fight more when they start free swimming. My neighbors did that and they have HUNDREDS of babies. any suggestions?

I always left the babies in with the parents, I found the fry grow quicker that way.

Some people have found though that after a few weeks of the fry being free swimming, the parents spawn again and they eat their last spawn of now free swimming fry.

Seperating them may give you more fry, but soon, especially with Convicts, you'll be wishing they would stop breeding!

I know, I have had MANY before. this is actually at my school, and the one of the fish is mine and I am helping the teacher with everything. He is getting much better at it. thanks, will use the advise :D

i have a cheating sajica,
he spawned with my blue eye female, and they had about 200 fry, about 80% of them are in a fry tank growing well. the ones i left in witch wasnt many, have bin fine but then the parents ate them, the sajica chased away the blue eyed cichlid and invited a convict in now they have paired and laid more eggs, talk about a cheating cichlid or what :shifty:
ive now found if you remove the fry as soon as they are free swimming , you can save alot of thema nd grow them quikly, and good quality, hope ot helps.
