...........................if they're hatched ?

I can see the eggs bubbling up etc, but what happens in 24 hours ?
Do they look different so I would know to strain them out, or leave them for 12 hours more, or if they just didn't hatch ?

TIA
Peter

You can store them in some of the brine solution in the fridge. You have to use them within 24 hours.

For longer term storage you can rinse & freeze them in fresh water.

Thanks Tolak

Is it the handkerchief over the jar, then wave it about in fresh dechlored water ?

I use disposable paper coffee filters rubber banded to a large plastic cup. Squirt in the bbs, and let the saline solution drain. Add some fresh water, I've been using non-dechlored tap water, to rinse them. I then distribute them around the tanks with an eyedropper, this lets me control the amount I'm feeding.

It must be me 'cos I utterly destroyed the coffee filters

I've put some in their own water in the fridge for tomorrow, and I've rinsed some in dechlored water and put them in the freezer.
How long can you keep them there for, and how do you treat them after defrosting ?

Sorry for all the questions

They're good for a few months in the freezer. I've made mini-cubes from the old bubble packs from frozen food. I have my son toss one cube daily in fry tanks if I'm away. You could also thaw them in a shotglass.

hi,
i siphon mine out of the salt solution and into a pint glass. then i shine a light at the bottom of the glass to encourage them to swim to the bottom, then carefully tip water out without loosing too many and fill up the pint glass with tap water. i repeat this 4 times each time they take less time to swim to the bottom because the salinity is decreasing due to the fresh water and they can swim easier and are less buoyant, then i just i tip the whole lot into my fry tanks. their could be thousands but they will live and after about 6 hours they will all be gone. the filters will take some. as for knowing when they hatch i turn off the aeration and look through a magnifying glass. also look for the waters surface to turn dark 2 mm thick. these are the empty egg shells

i hatched them before but they are so little,, i dont eve know how to get it

If you look at the second picture here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=136880&hl= you’ll see the 2 liter bottle I use for hatching bbs. Once they are done, in 24 hours at 82F, I pull out the air line, set the bottle gizmo on the table, and shine one of these on the bottom; http://www.doityourself.com/invt/1110386

In about 10 minutes all the bbs has settled to the bottom, the shells are on the top, just as thegnu said. You can siphon the bbs from the bottom using air line tubing, I use a turkey baster, it’s faster. I squirt what I plan on feeding into my coffee filter/cup gizmo, the rest goes into an old 1 pint plastic container with a 1â€￾ square hole in the top. The bbs in the filter gets rinsed & fed, the bbs in the container goes into the fridge.

Just be careful you don’t poke at the coffee filter too hard, and it won’t rip.
