Hey,
My 2 fishes, sunset and star are now mommies :D and now i finally have more fry  And my 2 week old platy fry are great too :flex:
But of coarse they had to have them when i was at school. Oh well. Just wondering has anybody ever seen their fish give birth :/

No I missed out on mine too, how many fry have you got, and what will you be doing with them, keeping them or giving them to the lfs.

I was very lucky to see a feeder guppy give birth before i had my fancies. It was really coo to watch because they drop in such a unique way! You would have to see it to believe it lol

Anyone else know what i am talking about?

Do feeder guppys, drop differently to fancy guppys.

well now i have abt. 23 new fry (not sure hard to count) and 3 two week old fry.
i am going to keep one or two :D but a couple of my friends would like some and if i have any left i will give them to the lfs.

I think that because feeder guppies are alot smaller in comparison to well at least me fancy gupies that they usually drop alot less babies than the fancies. I am pretty sure the birthing method is the same for each....I have not been lucky enough to catch a fancy guppy dropping :(....Oh wel

I am proud to announce that my feeder guppy fry are now one month old! yay!....I just wanted to know if it is possible to sex them at this age?

Yes, I've seen my platys give birth quite a few times. It's not for the faint hearted though, the mother usually drops a bunch of fry at the same time (say, 5-ish), and they scatter like crazy. If they're too slow, she turns round and eats them.

Still, it's pretty amazing to watch these little fish being born and swimming off (and surviving!)
