Well.
How many rules can I break in one post? :<

Not forum rules mind, fishkeeping rules. Had a message from Rae who was woking from home, and had to dash home at lunch time and do a 50% water change as 1 male P.Acei, 1male L.Caeruleus, 1 female L.Caeruleus and 1 female I.Sprengerae were floating in the tank. :rip:

Now how did this happen?
I'll tell you why! Because I am a $&^%*(&% idiot! :X

I had been treating a minor bit of fin split with Melafix, and then I noticed one of the i.Sprengerae had a bit of hollow belly. Right thinks me, I'm gonna do some treatment, forgetting to do a water change prior to adding the Interpet anti bacterial treatment. I wake up this morning and all looked fine, then came Rae's panic call. 4 floaters and all the others gasping and looking very dodgy.

Go on then, give me all the grief I deserve. Please. If I could kick my own backside, I would.

Anyway, good news is that the fish are now much happier and the filter has some carbon in it to remove the rest of the anti bacterial treatment.

It happens to the best of us, Im still dealing with itch, all because i did not quarantine some plecs.

I`m sorry , maybe an airstone may of helped.
I had a very similar thing when adding meds, I noticed the fish at the surface and immediately added an airstone and everything was fine about 20 mins later.
I think if your filter really ripples the water your ok but if not defo. add an airstone with meds.

Hey folks....

Calm has been restored to the chaos here and I was just watching the tank at feeding time as one does, when whaddya know....

Out pops a L.caeruleus fry! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I am assuming it's one them, as it had the elongated front fins, which I saw when it flared up. None of the other fish had spat or were ready to do when it all went wrong. I am assuming it's the survivor from the lot that should have been born around christmas day. It's tiny, about 1cm long and hiding in the rocks :-

I am amazed that it has survived the carnage from yesterday!! I am chuffed and it almost makes up for being such an idiot.

On another note, would a 5gal pfk nano work as a fry tank, if I could persuade the holding female to spit?

Cheers

Gordon
