Here's a couple to get us started.

The polar bear is the largest land carnivore with males reaching a maximum size of 3m tall!
The cheetah is the fastest predator!
The Gila monster is one of the very few venomous lizards.
The western taipan is the worlds most venomous snake.
The fastest sea creature in the world is believed to be the sailfish, which can reach speeds of up to 110 kilometres per hour.

Great White sharks can grow up to 40,000 teeth in their life time, with new ones behind the main teeth ready to replace it if it's lost.

Lions sleep for up to 20 hours per day.

The dodo died out because they lost their sense of fear from having no natural predators for thousands of years. Therefore they weren't scared of people coming to the island picking them up and putting them in a pot to boil. At no ppoint would they try to escape.

An animal which has it's sense of fear is called naive.

Flamingoes can put one side of their body to sleep at a time. So the side with the leg up is asleep.

only 1 side of a dolphins brain sleeps at a time. So if it's left eye is closed the right side of it's brain is asleep.
