Automatic Instrument For Measuring Water Quality

Hi

I'm doing some research on a single instrument that would automatically measure aquarium chemical parameters (pH, oxygen etc).

what would people be prepared to pay for:

(a) a simple instrument measuring a couple of chemical parameters (up to 3) and

(b) a "all singing and dancing one" that would measure about 5-6 diffrent chemical parameters?

for me i would love something that you could just stick in the tank and digitally read off the ph, i think there is something like that already availible though, as i saw my science teacher using one.. but if you can do that i would happily pay.. dont need to test for oxygen though.

It all comes down to the price. If it was well priced then yes I would buy.

I wouldn't want one to much effort to read and then try and correct into the right range. These are already on the market though and designed for aquarium usage. I suspect people would pay £80 for such a device and also want pc output perhaps with warning features when something goes wrong you could do this wirelessly preferably bluetooth I would suspect.

Adandrews you want a digital ph meter they are easy to find and you may be order one through the school if you ask your teacher to tag it on with their next order. You need to calibrate it in a buffer solution at the temperature f what you want to measure before use for most but other then that press a button dip in and wait a couple of seconds and read the display. Lots of designs available this or a it more fancy so that you can work out different parameters on the computer to optimise plant growth then this may be preferred.
