Automatic Fish Feeding

Hi

I am going away for a week and need an automatic fish feeder for 35 fish. Can anyone recommend a good one for value and quality?

Hi there,

I'm not sure on your tank setup/fish etc. but if your only away for a week, then as long as the fish are well fed, you don't need to worry about feeding them.

Especially if you have plants, algae etc.

The problem with all the auto feeders is that they often get condensation inside, and are not 'sealed' so fish food that is deposited has often gone stale....

I have a 350L tank and a couple of plants but no visible algae.

I’m worried they might start eating each other if they get hungry. Do you think a week without food will be ok then?

They sound poorly designed if they get condensation inside.

Penguin Tetra x10

Rummynose Tetra x6

Sunset Platy x2

Bristlenose Pleco x1

I don't know the answer but I have a question, do you not get any fighting with your fighters and gouramis? as you said not alot of plants etc

Their all survive 7 days with out food easily. Mine go 10-14 days with no trouble here when I'm away in the summer.
I have 10 tanks of fish and don't trust friends or family!

No autofeeder i've tested has been good with flake foods.
If you feed pellet though the Ehiem is very reliable and use this on clients tanks quite often which are greedy Cichlids

Pompeydaz – no, they get on very well. In fact I’m tempted to get more Gourami but worried they may start fighting between themselves. The male fighter is very well behaved and keeps himself to himself showing no interest in the other fish. The female fighters tend to just sit in the plants I do have all day (bit boring).

Thanks helter-skelter. I don’t trust relatives either so may take your advice and not feed them if that is safe. I’m only going for 7 days so its not a really long time.

What ever you do, do not feed extra flake foods before or after you return, just feed as normal.

I will do. I would have been tempted to over feed them on return but will defo ensure I resist.

Giving a reason will far more help people as at would be normal to think to feed extra on return?

I just left my fish for 6 days without food and they were all fine, tho I was worried the whole time!
