Hi could someone recommend an automatic fish feeder for hols etc

thanks

I've read a lot of threads regarding the inefficiency of automatic fish feeders. I think most of the problem lie on the fact that it's giving out food more than what the fish could eat. Owners come back to a heavily polluted tank due to uneaten food.

I'd suggest getting something like this:

You can pre-measure the food for each compartment. You could also leave some of the compartments empty to make a "feed every two days or every other day" schedule. Leaving a day or two in between unsupervised feeding will help reduce the number of uneaten food.
whats that called and where can you get it from?

It also depends on what is in your tank. I have two large Bristlenoses, and the gravel is shiny clean all the time (well, maybe not shiny). This is a big improvement over when I left the fish and there were no catfish. I came back and there was bits of rotten food all over the floor

the thing with feeders with individual compartments, is that you are limited to the number of compartment..
14 compartments=14 feedings...
1 feeding/day=14 days
2 feedings/day=7 days...
after 7 or 14 days, what?

this is a good thread is im going away for three weeks soon and i need a feeder, i shall watch with intrest :hyper:

just make sure you test the feeder for a few days before your holiday...
making sure that it's working and feeding the correct amount...
do not overfeed..under-feeding a bit is what i will do when i go on a long holiday..
