Hello

Just wondered if there are any reliable auto feeding devices that you can buy in the UK.

I've looked at a Juwel product but that's made specifically for a certain type of hood.

May be going away in the summer for longer than I'm prepared to leave them without food.

Thanks.

Martyn

The juwel can be fitted on any tank if you cut a hole in the hood. It comes with the adaptor that fits in the hood.

The jewel ones are really good and easy too operate, they release the food in one go.
My friend has a custom built aquarium so was able to use the jewel one but as for fitting to any other aquarium I wouldn't know for sure.
Some of the clock shaped ones with compartments take hours to feed the fish as they rotate slowly only letting out small amounts of food in any compartment along the way.
The one my friend had before switching to the jewel took 4 hrs to feed the fish.
Maybe look for something similar to the jewel that is universal fitting unless you can fit the jewel one to your hood.
I personally would avoid the compartment ones.

how long are you going away for? I've left my tank for 10 days with no issues. Some say 2 weeks is fine (although I can't support that with my own experience).

if you know someone that could pop in just a couple of times whilst you are away, that might be an alternative soloution.

Have dealt with the Juwel one, Interpet one and the Eheim one...

Personally i wouldnt use an autofeeder as you can never guarantee it will work every time... but out of those three, the only one I rate is the Eheim one. Its a lot more compact than the others and has clearer settings and seemed far less prone to having the food turn to mush when the condensation from the tank got in... however, from a shop.. they retail at about £55. Hence I wouldnt bother using one.

A two week holiday block would feed most fish for more like 4 weeks..
