Does anyone know a make of auto feeder that will fit a Juwel aquarium without having to cut the hood to make it fit?

Very good question, i was just thinking the same. If I can't get hold of one i was thinking of taking the front section of lid off and putting a sheet of hardboard over the gap then i could cut a hole in it for the feeder. It won't look very pretty but i'll be on holiday so who cares. Of course you could go over the top with this, make an exact copy of the plastic lid to fit and paint it black. I have to have someone stay at my house anyway to feed the guinea pigs, rabbit, hamster, frogs etc anyway so i might just put the food in individual bags and let them feed the fish.

heh heh heh, your house sounds like mine!

We have 6 aquariums, 2 cats and 2 dogs......its like the Osbourne Mansion!!

Hi, I bought an "Aquarline" automatic fish feeder for when I went on holiday. You can use flakes or pellets. Personally I wouldn't use flakes in case they get damp from the condensation and clump together. I used pellets, my fish will eat virtually anything. I have Mollies, a Platy and a Common Pleco. I also have real plants which they would eat if they were hungry. I also have a piece of wood for the Pleco. I bought my fishfeeder from e-bay and it was a good price, plus they included the battery which they didn't have to. I have a Juwel Rekord 96 and I have placed the fixing between the two feeding hatches. All I do is leave the one hatch open just far enough for the food to be able to get in. I tape string across the gap because I have an Apple Snail and they do sometimes try to get out. Hope that helps. :) P.S. If you have more than one tank it would work out quite expensive so if someone could feed the fish for you that might be better.

I have never used an auto feeder. I don't think there are that many brands/types available. I have heard that you need to be very careful and test them for a couple weeks before using. Otherwise you will come back to a tank in terrible shape because of too much food.

Its going to be for tanks I set up and maintain for other people so I wanted autyo feeders to take away all the work (I dont see feeding them as work....I enjoy it but...) but they will all be Juwel aquariums.

I tested mine for 2 days before I went. Partly to make sure the food could get throught the string I had to stick on to stop the snail escaping. I also used two holiday feeding blocks. When I came back from holiday everything was fine for about 4 days then the water quality was terrible, the filter sponges were clogged and the ph has fluctuated. I came back at the end of August and I have only just got the tank right again. I have not had water quality problems before. I will never use feeding blocks again! :)
