Any thing caught in the wild may be carrying diseases, parasites, etc. that is harmful to your fish. So I would suggest you quarantine it first in a medicated area and then let it loose in your tank.

Hi there

Are you using them as food for the fish?

can I ask which fish are in the tank

Dubby is right that there may be viruses that the shrimp carry and are immune to that may harm your fish.

:hyper:

i havent put any in the tank, i was just wondering if i could.

i didnt want them as food, i just thought they would add something else to the tank after i noticed a lot of people seem to have ghost shrimp. the other question i have is, will some fish try to eat them or would them nip at the fishes fins?

i am still cycling at the minute but it is just going to be a community tank with angels tetra and corys

Angels can eat certain tetras and would probably pick on the shrimp and possibly kill them. The shrimp should pose no threat to your fish besides harbouring disease.

angels, some gouramis, puffers. These are some of the fish that will eat the shrimp. I have 10 ghost shrimp in mine and the gouramis leave them alone.....except for the odd chase!!
