Next Sunday I will be auctioning off my 55 gallon fish tank that includes stand, tank, hood, working lights, aquaclear 70 filter, extra filter media for aquaclear 70,aquatech 10-20 power filter, catridges for aquaclear 70 power filter,Topfin heater, stick on thermometer, decorations and extras (rocks, nets, gravel vacuums, airstones, airpumps, exc.). I also have fish: a 6 inch common pleco, 2 jewel cichlids and a black and gray fish that I will soon post pictures of. My first question is would I be better off auctioning the tank off with or without fish? In USD what do you think I should expect to get for this tank? And my last question: Is there anything that I can do to prepare the fish to be auctioned off? Thanks

Do you have a spare tank?
You could temporarily keep them in there.

No, I don't have a spare tank and even if I did it woulden't help. The rules of the auction are that all specimens have to be in a certain sized bag(forgot the size, have it written down at home), must be double bagged and the bag must be labeled with a sharpy. I'm uploading pics of the fish I need ID'd right now.

Here's a pic:

Auction the fish separately, don’t feed them for 24 hours before bagging. Transport them in a styro or cooler. Triple bag the plec, they like to tear up bags.

Best guess on the tank setup is anywhere from $75 to $150. Auctions are funny with equipment. If a few other people bring 55’s the price will be lower, if it’s the only 55 the price will be higher. I’ve seen tanks go for higher than they would in the store, I’ve also gotten 30 gallon tanks for $3.

It's definitely a cichlid. I'm thinking it's a Satanoperca Leucosticta, but the 'nose' doesn't seem to be sloping steeply enough to be a demonfish. Tell me, does it have a habit of sifting through the substrate with it's mouth?

Thanks Tolak and Darke. I've just looked at some pics of the Satanoperca Leucosticta and I agree that the nose doesn't seem to slope as much and the coloration looks a little bit different, than the coloration in the fish that I have. No, this fish does not have a habit of sifting through the substrate with it's mouth. The fish is more of a middle-top swimming fish and doesn't stay on the bottom of the tank for nearly as look as my other cichlids.

I don't want to get rid of it, but I have to because my family is moving to a new house and I have to make some sacrifices. I have 4 tanks and needed to get rid of one. The others are bigger 180,125 and a 72 gallon bow front.
