Attaching Plants To Bogwood

I have just moved 2 of my mystery ivy leafed style plants and put them on the bogwood
cave. Do you think they will attach. They have white 'roots' that seem to go sideways rather than downwards and they were in the substrate but the roots kept poking out from the sides throught the sand.

I have 'slipped' the 'roots' of this one under one of the cotton lines that are holding the Riccia net down.

This one I have positioned into a small creviced hole in the bogwood, and has a small piece of slate just holding it there.

Please reassure me that it'll work. If not should I put them back in the substrate?
