Hi,

At what age do platies start to breed (both male and female)?

I had 1 remaining pregnant female platy plus 2 female juveniles. There have been no males in the tank since before juveniles were born, so the juvies were virgin females. My adult female gave birth to approx 8 fry and promptly died (this was her 3rd birth).

The new fry are now 2 weeks and 3 days old and they all look female, in which case as there are no males present they will all be virgins and I will keep them. However should there be a rogue male in there I want to know at which point should i get worried about pregnancy occuring.

Many thanks

I don't think you need worry until the gonopodium is actually showing. I take my platy and guppy males out at this stage, and haven't had an unwanted pregnancy yet, touch wood.
