Asian Bred German Blue Rams

I just bought a female gbr to try and pair with my male. So far all is going well but what concerns me is i just read that asian bred rams are pumped with hormones and don't live very long. does anyone know how to tell the difference or how long asian bred rams are expected to last?

I don't think there's any way to tell the difference. Mine only ever seem to live for about 2 years, as opposed to 5 or 6, which should be their normal lifespan
