OK my 260litre is on the verge of completing it's cycle *touch wood nothing else goes wrong* and I keep changing my mind about which centre piece fish(s) I would like to go in there. My current fish which will defo be moving in are:

5 x zebra danios + 2 new ones
2 x angels
3 x neons (until if/when eaten by angels)
1 x RTBS

I also have 5 baby BN's which I'm probably going to wait and see what sex they are before deciding how many go into the 260l and how many into the 56l but there will definately be at least 2 moving in.

I want to add the centre piece fish in the future, not straight away, maybe a few months down the line. I've had a few ideas but keep changing my mind either because I dont think they are big enough, I need to keep more than I want to, very sickly weak fish, dont get on well with my others etc.

Here are some of my previous ideas and would like some input as to what you think would work well in my community tank and why, also why you like them so much.

1) Pearl Gourami
2) Dwarf Gourami
3) Rams
4) Female siamese fighters

Ideally I would like 1 or 2 significantly bigger much more colourful fish than what I've already got but not sure on what.

Thanks in advance.

Vicki

From the options you provided, I'd go with the Gourami. They're active and tend to use the entire tank rather than hover at the top or bottom. As far as centre pieces go, I think your angels will take that position, they can get fairly large.

Very true with the angels. I suppose it's just hard to imagine as they are tiny at the mo but have seen some massive ones in the past!

Would you recc any particular type of gourami, are pearls hardier than dwarfs?

Defo the pearls are hardier, the dwarves can fall victim to a virus specific to them, plus IMO the pearls are much nicer :good:

I would also up the neons, they stand more chance in a larger group and would feel much happier.

I wasn't sure if I was going to keep neons, I originally had 6 then 3 died within 24 hours but didnt have any symptoms and the water was perfect.

I would love a BIG schoal of neons but am a bit wary of spending money on more if they will all be gobbled up by the angels when they are bigger...

Pearls still really appeal to me, what do you think is a good number?
