Why is it you can't get decent wood in the UK for our aquariums. The type I'm talking about specifically is the ones you see in the ADA gallery, you know those jutting branches sometimes physically coming out of the top of the aquarium itself.

Above are a few examples of the type of wood I mean. Does anyone have the foggiest idea of where I might be able to find something like this, I have been thinking of driftwood really but that is typically smoothed and bleached by the sea and not really what we need for our tanks. ADA dont even seem to sell wood like this.

Yeah i've been on the look put for those type of branches too and not had any luck getting hold of any. I've tried looking on ebay but none seem to look like the branches used in the pictures above.

I gave up looking. Let me know if you find out.

I agree Arrrrrrrrrrr! Its so fustrating, all these lovely tanks, if only we could find the wood to realise our dreams lol.

That second tanks is fantastic, i love the way the wood and the plants come out of the water.

Well yes this is the issue, but theres no shortage of trees in the uk so it stands to reason there must be wood like this somewhere!

I,ve seen loads of nice roots in resivour, I think the long prosses of cutting drying and getting it blasted to remove algue and dirt would but to much for most people.

Might be a good plan to take a walk throuhg a forest after a big, windy storm, see what's been blown over. Or just lying around... Or, get some nice twigs and make a mini version

at one of the local fish stores around here, they have some amazing branch type pieces. seriously they are beautiful but.... they are insanely expensive.

an L shape around 2 ft long costs 30-40 easily$. maybe they are extremely hard to get? i'll ask them

the only store i have found with a good wood selection is wildwoods in crews hill, enfield. i got my big lump in my 50G there. they have pieces so big that i cant lift them, literally (and i'm no midget). call first if any of you are taking the trip down there to check availability.

I got a load of twisting mangrove root off ebay for about £12....there are 8 bits and are all between 15 and 18" long.....Im going to use them to set up an angels tank in a while.....they will look smart

Nice purchase. I never thought of e-bay for wood.

It depends.....sometimes when you take into account postage cost then its not really worth it but you can often get a bargin.....I just put my max bid in (after looking at the postage) then if I get it I get it if I dont i dont.....worth a look though.
