hello, i have a pair of Catfish (Pimelodus Maculatus) they are at 14cm, they are blue with black dotts on them, some people call them marble shape dotts, have use seen these catfish for sale? if so what price tag did they have on them? or do use know around how mutch these catfish are worth$$$ ?

how much something is worth would depend on supply and demand

The Law of Supply states that if demand is held constant, an increase in supply leads to a decreased price, while a decrease in supply leads to an increased price.
The Law of Demand states that if supply is held constant, an increase in demand leads to an increase in market price, while a decrease in demand leads to a decrease in market price.
Simply put, a "hot item" will cost more. If demand exceeds supply, a shortage occurs which leads to an increase in price. If demand declines significantly, a surplus will be created leading to a decrease in price.

If they are pictus that you bought at a lfs for less than 5 bucks, then you will probably get like a dollar or 2 for them.

i didnt get them for a dollar, lol i payed $200 for a pair, yes they are pictus though :good:

ill see if i can get a pic, how do i upload a picture here?

If you paid that for Pimelodus Pictus you got ripped off, don't know about the other Pimelodus species.

pim pictus in my lfs at about 8-10cm long, $45 each. i imagine you would get more for a mating pair. May be rarer in aus than other countries, as there is no way i could buy them anywhere near me for $5 or anything like it.

Pimelodus maculatus is a fairly rare catfish in the hobby and so do comand some fairly high prices, in the UK i wouldnt expect any change from around 40 pounds each.

Why have people instantly jumped to thinking they are Pimelodus pictus? There are at least 20 known species of Pimelodus and more being discovered all the time.

according to a recent topic (Fish Available For Import To Australia)
the only two pims that are legal in Australia are
Pimelodus pictus and Pimelodus ornatus

just so you know that your Pimelodus Maculatus is illegal when you are
ergo it is worth a heck of a lot of cash to the right buyer
