ive got 12 armano shrimp in my tank, ive had them for about 3 months now, very healthy and fully grown

over the past 3-4days they have all been bunched together next to a plant and rock in the shade, tightly packed together, and only move for food!

i have no idea why they are doing this, alwayz have been very lively and active, does anyone have any ideas?

thanks Darren

is there any fish in the tank? If yes, they could be getting nipped at and congrogate together for protection...

Ox :good:

mating? i have no idea how they mate but that can be an explanation. ox5447's explanation seems quite possible, tough.

ive just got platies and mollies in with corys and ottos, they all leave each other alone, the shrimos can hold their own belive me! waters perfect , not dosing with anything, my first thought was breeding, but not sure!

This is not mating behavior. If they were mating, the female would have just finished molting and the males would be chasing her around the tank.

Do you have the television on loudly or something? Change anything in the tank recently?

nope nothings changed! ill keep an eye on them though

i cant tell if theyre female or male tbh! all look very similar!

if definatley sounds like the behaviour you'd expect if they are scared or threatened by something..... does not sound like happy shrimp at all.

have you watched all your other fish, fish can suddenly develop aggressive tendencies..... have a good look to see if anyones starting to bully them.

The shrimp may be able to hold their own, but that doesn't mean that they are not stressed by their neighbours. Do they have lots of hiding places? I have a few shrimp and sometimes I won't see any of them for days and then sometimes they are all out and about doing what they do best. They like places to hide, especially when molting.

yeah they have plenty of hiding spaces! none of the other fish bother them, they seemed to be wedged together tightly under a plant maybe 8-9 of them packed together, one on top of another

well theyve come out of hiding after a good water change, my pH reading was low and i think that this might have affected my shrimps behaviour, think ive lost one or 2

all is well noew though
