Does anyone have any experience with this fish, i would like to add one to my stock list, as they are very cool looking. Any one who knows a lot about them or has ownded 1, any info is appreciated.

I have had the pleasure of owning these beautiful fish. But I do believe that the Colombian and the Silver-tip sharks are two seperate species (if I'm wrong, someone will correct me)
They come from South America (hence Colombia) and are shoaling fish. Keep them in neutral to slightly acidic water. They do grow large so a big tank is recomended.

This is the Silvertip and Columbian Shark, ive heard them been called the same and on websites.

Even if you raise them in freshwater. Ive read that they go into salt water for half the year then fresh for half. If they do both in the wild, i believ theyu can handle just fresh.

is there a shark that dosent grow big and can be put in a 50 gallon tank, with other comunity fish?
There are many. Red tails, rainbows...do some research!

And nshockey, no I can not believe it! Good on you for having the patience, I would have given up and thrown some fish in there by now. It'll be worth it once the fish are in there though.

What are you planning on stocking it with? I think I read it in another thread, but I dont remember. :dunno:

Yea ive been so close to doin the same Danny beleive me

Anways im planning on stocking it with

1 Oscar
3 Bala Sharks
1 Black Shark
4 Clown Loaches

(not final but thats what im thinking right now)

YES! An Oscar! Good choice

You've got some more room in there, what about a Hujeta Gar? They are awesome, and not expensive.

I also think some Silver Dollars would be perfect for that tank, they grow at roughly the same rate as an Oscar.

Maybe Danny, but i was also considering putting a Severum or Geo in there. Im hoping that i can find a Green Banned severum to be honest with you. Im gunna have to run down to the LFS and check out what they have in.

And after seeing Blue Ice's 'honduran red point' i am very interested in it. I doubt ill find it anywhere though.
