can anyone tell me if they have used it and if they have any guidelines on using it, also is it fine, course, sharp? my appologoies for so many questions in one go :D

Its great stuff....the stuff in Tesco (big stores only) is the same but 75p CHEAPER
See the tank pic in my Signature....All my fish love it...and thrive in it...I know this by just how many "babies" we have in the tank right now!! :D :D :D

thanks wanda, i'm aiming to set up a 180L int he next few weeks, is it easy to rinse off?, the stuff i got last from lfs was terrible and even after heavy rinsing turned my water cloudy for weeks (no fish were harmed in the making) :look:

I had to wash enough for a 130 gallon tank...well 2/3rds as I have sand and gravel. It does take a while but the trick is to do it in smallish amounts ( a medium-large size kitchen bowl) then put it in the tank and GENTLY does it when adding the water. (are you fishless cycling?? if so that gives it time to settle) when adding it I put a large plate with a glass kitchen bowl (the right way up) on top of it the pured the water in to the bowl it overflowed onto the plate (bit like a cup and saucer) then that goes onto the sand. it stopps it stiring up so much. Wet sand is a pain but its great to look at in the tank in the end.

I saw blue play sand at wmart today. Anyone know anything about this stuff. I'm thinking about putting a blend of several kinds of sand in my gf's 29 gallon tank and I may mix in some of the blue if it's safe. I probably won't but it's not really up to me.

EDIT: sorry didn't mean to hijack a thread here. =)

i probably will fishless cycle. the tank is from a friend and i am currnetly running two filters in existing tank, so when i set up the new one i can slap the second filter in along with some water from said tank and hopefully kick things off this way. i may need a lot of sand as i'm being a bit ambitious and going for a split (3)levell tank. this may take some doing but i'm gonna take my time and get the aquascape and the water right
all good things come to those who wait
