Hi guys

My friend bought me a betta from lfs the other day while I was at work (unfortunately she didn't know I had a medicine tank), absolutely beautiful, lovely long flowing fins! She kindly introduced him to my tank. When I got home and fed, he wasn't interested in food, in fact he kept trying to find a spot to hang his beautiful fins over - which set alarm bells ringing. I think it was Thursday.

Friday evening I noticed slight pink bits to the end of his tail. Saturday morning I checked him and half of his tail had gone! I was given Myxazin to treat him but unfortunately he died, Sunday I lost two guppies and a neon and my other guppy and two sailfins are not long for this world and I have even lost my 5" plec! They myxazin doesn't seem to be strong enough to even stop it spreading to other fish.

The Myxazin treates fin rot, ulcers, cloudy/pop eye and bacterial infection. The LFS advised it was the best med to go for.

Anyway, my stats are:

Fluval Venezia 190

Running: 2-3 months (fully cycled before introducing fish from my old tank)
Ornaments - bogwood
Current occupiers (whats left)
5 glowlights
2 bala sharks (waiting for my tank to clear before I take them back to lfs, they are now too big!)
8 neons
1 cardinal
2 polkadot loaches
5 sailfins (2 on their way out)
queen alabasque plec,
1 female krib
two guppies (one on its way out) and thats it!

Nitrites = 0
Ammonia = 0

I have also added a smal ammount of salt to help the treatment.

So, do I finish treatment?
Do I change treatment and if so what to?
How do I go about changing treatment (water changes? putting my carbon back in? waiting a few days?)
Or any other suggestions if you don't mind please?

Tan

Were the pink bits strand of cotton on the fins as columnaris can come in pink.
I would switch to anti internal bacteria med by interpet.
