Fish Herder
ive been conditioning my pair for their fist spawn for the past 3weeks. before i bought them, they had been living in the same tank so were quite well aquainted, but ive had them seperated while conditioning them. the male was in a 30 ltr tank with a bunch of hygrophilia and a bunch of comboba. everything seemed good. i introduced the female on thursday night in a breeding trap and the male went crazy for her and was displaying and adding to his already extensive nest. i left them till this morning to get reaquainted and she seemed as keen as him this morning so i let her out. and they just seemed to click, he was displaying and she was displaying and flaring back to him, there was a bit of chasing from both sides, and she folled him everywhere. the suddenly the male turned on her and she hid under the plants. she ventured out again and the flirting continued, but then he went for her again and she hid for about 10 mins before he found her and again he went for her, and took a big chunk out of her tail. at this point i felt if i left her in he would kill her so i removed her and im not going to try again until her tail if fully healed. i was absolutely gutted as it looked like they were going to do it! im just glad he didnt kill her.
anyone any pointers as to where i went wrong? should i have left her in the breeding trap for a while longer?
